Buster Keaton

Here's a new one I'm working on. He had such an interesting face and demeanor, after watching Steamboat Bill Jr. I really wanted to draw him. I love silent film stars, and other entertainers of that era. I sort of just want to leave this one as is, I like its simplicity and translucence but who knows. It is from a sketch turned digital, but maybe I'll make it into a painting instead. Next I want to do Josephine Baker. If I think of a few more maybe I could show them together somewhere. As far as modern entertainers I think I'll do Melora Creager, and possibly The Ditty Bops.

This is great. And Josephine Baker's body could go through such interesting contortions--she'd be a delight to draw. Regarding Keaton, have you seen him playing an old, faded version of himself in 'Sunset Blvd'?

He's one of the sad, forgotten Hollywood stars who comes over for the card nights.
